ABOUT STAN BEARDEN

ABOUT  STAN  BEARDEN

Stan Bearden was born in 1962 and has been practicing law since 1989.  He attended elementary, junior high and high school at Morris schools, Morris, Oklahoma.  This is the same small home town of at least two other prominant lawyers, to include law professor Anita Hill (U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accusations) and Gary Clark, past President of the Oklahoma Bar Association and member of the Board of Regents at Oklahoma State University.  Mr. Bearden was born at the same hospital as, and a few days before, Kansas Jayhawk head basketball coach Bill Self.  Coach Self and Mr. Bearden were friends and lived next door to each other as toddlers.

In high school, Mr. Bearden was active in sports and Future Farmers of America (FFA).  He was a co-captain and starting safety on the Morris Eagles state runner-up high school football team.  He played center field in baseball.  He also ran track in various events such as the quarter mile run (52.4 seconds), 100 yard dash, 330 yard intermediate hurdles, 440 yard relay team, and the mile run relay team.  His mile run relay team qualified for state.

Mr. Bearden turned down the opportunity to play college sports at small universities and opted, instead, to focus on academics at the University of Oklahoma where he earned his bachelors degree.  He received his law degree from the University of Tulsa.  In his "torts" class in law school, which is essentially a study of personal injury law, he finished 4th in his class out of about 70 students.

After graduating law school and passing the Oklahoma Bar examination in 1989, he started his professional career.  First, he had a wonderful experience serving his country as a Captain and criminal prosecutor in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps from 1989 to 1992.  He was fortunate to also be sworn in as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Newport News Division, which allowed him to handle a civilian criminal docket.  He was on active during the first Gulf war but his deployment was cancelled due to the unexpected quick conclusion of the war.  His tour of duty ended in 1992 and he has been in private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma ever since.

Mr. Bearden is married and has three children.  In addition to spending time with my family, he enjoys jogging and following all collegiate and professional sports.  His practice is limited to plaintiffs personal injury, workers compensation and social security disability.  Most of his cases involve surgery, however, he does handle strains and sprains as well.  He has lectured to other lawyers and co-authored the book Trying the Soft Tissue Case in Oklahoma.

At the STAN BEARDEN LAW FIRM, our clients deal directly with Mr. Bearden.  Client telephone calls ring straight to his desk.  Communication is important so clients are given his cell phone number for evening and weekend calls.  The STAN BEARDEN LAW FIRM is a smaller, more personal  practice rather than a larger volume, chaotic practice where clients have a hard time talking to their lawyer and never really know who is handling their file.  Clients are definitely better served and feel more comfortable because they are treated with small town respect and are worked with one on one.
